Personalized Strategy for Animal-Assisted Therapy for Individuals Based on the Emotions Induced by the Images of Different Animal Species and Breeds

The aim of this study was to apply the FaceReader technique to select animal species and breed for a personalized AAT based on emotions (‘neutral’, ‘happy’, ‘sad’, ‘angry’, ‘surprised’, ‘scared’, ‘disgusted’, ‘contempt’) induced in persons (18-64 years old) by images of different animal species and breeds. To implement the aim, (Canis familiaris, Felis silvestris catus, Sus scrofa domesticus, Ovis aries, Equus caballus) their breeds (dogs: Australian shepherd, pug, Labrador retriever, Doberman, miniature schnauzer, beagle, three mixed-breed types, Yorkshire terrier, Cane Corso, Samoyed, Chihuahua; cats: British shorthair, Himalayan cat, mixed Siamese, Sphynx, Bengal cat; horses: Norwegian Fjord, Exmoor pony, Andalusian, Friesian; pigs: Vietnamese pot-bellied, Kunekune; sheep: Herdwick sheep, Suffolk sheep) were used. This showed that is significant factor intensity ‘neutral’, ‘happy’ as well valence, emotion valence. The obtained results could be used for a personalized strategy improving helping individuals pet.

Influence of aromatization on the perception of work environment and job satisfaction

The aim of this paper is to examine how indoor aromatization affects the expressed and unexpressed satisfaction with the work environment in a production hall in an industrial company. Design/methodology/approach: Aroma was flavored by unit, measured on a scale. Biometrics facial recognition (FaceReader) was used to measure satisfaction, enabling recording of eight emotions, two basic emotions. Findings: Research has shown effect – neutral, angry, which partially confirmed sense of flavoring facilities. Previous research has shown that positive feelings caused by pleasant smell influence customers’ purchasing decisions. As use mental state individual, it could be also applied for non-marketing purposes. Originality/value: To date, there has been no systematically addresses impact perception in manufacturing. The presented study is unique in its design and focus. It provides information about individuals. The findings can help further aspects indirectly affect performance.

Expressions of anger during advising on life dilemmas predict suicide risk among college students

Research has demonstrated a relationship between anger and suicidality, while real-time, authentic emotions behind facial expressions could be detected during advising on hypothetical protagonists in life dilemmas. This study aimed to investigate the predictive validity of anger for suicide risk. Besides advising on dilemmas (a friend’s betrayal, an attempt), 130 adults completed the Suicidal Scale and the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview. Participants’ advice-giving was measured 29 times/s by artificial intelligence (AI)-based software (FaceReader 7.1). The results showed that anger was a significant predictor. Increased anger was associated with higher suicide risk. In contrast, there was no correlation between risk duration or length of advising. Therefore, measuring micro-expressions with AI-based software may help detect anger among clinical patients in both traditional and online counseling contexts to prevent suicide.

Proximally Sensitive Error for Anomaly Detection and Feature Learning

Mean squared error is widely used to measure differences between multi-dimensional entities, including images. However, MSE lacks local sensitivity as it doesn’t consider the spatial arrangement of pixel differences, which is crucial for structured data like images. Such spatial arrangements provide information about the source of differences; therefore, an error function that incorporates the location of errors can offer a more meaningful distance measure. We introduce Proximally Sensitive Error , suggesting that emphasizing regions in the error measure can highlight semantic differences between images over syntactic or random deviations. We demonstrate that this emphasis can be leveraged for anomaly or occlusion detection. Additionally, we explore its utility as a loss function to help models focus on learning representations of semantic objects instead of minimizing syntactic reconstruction noise.

Face the music: Children’s facial affect in musical imitation and improvisation tasks

The purpose of this study was to examine facial affect in young children who completed a singing task that included imitation and improvisation. Eighty-nine children (4–6 years: 45 male, 44 female participants) completed three conditions from the standard test battery (i.e., Advancing Interdisciplinary Research in Singing-Test Battery Singing Skills [AIRS-TBSS]). These conditions included singing their favorite song, imitating a song, and improvising a song ending. Facial affect was analyzed with Noldus FaceReader software, and subjective responses also were collected. Results revealed children exhibited happy emotion most prominently during the improvisation compared to the imitation condition. However, a higher percentage of surprised emotions were found frequency analysis significantly different in the range of the final note for the condition imitation. Children’s self-reported ratings of happiness were related to their displayed happiness (p < .05). Qualitative data emerging themes included familiarity, object association, and preference. Children were more positive when singing or improvising. Based on the type of vocal performance task, it is necessary to consider how children respond to tasks.
